Finding The Greatest Stand up electric Scooter
Folks, today we have a clash of the titans. We are setting out to determine what the best stand up electric scooter is. Of course, we previously declared the EcoReco M5 the king of stand up scooters, an analysis that we still feel was justified at the time, given the information available. However, we have a powerful contender – the Inokim Quick-2 stand up electric scooter. Can this new standing scooter derail our current king? Read on to find out.
Introducing the Inokim Quick-2 “Electric Kick Scooter”
New to 2015 is the Inokim Quick-2 Myway electric kick scooter. At first glance, this may seem really similar to every other foldable electric scooter on the market. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Aesthetically, this scooter has a refined yet utilitarian look. The swoop of the frame over the rear tire is both appealing to the eye and functional. This guarantees that an errant shoelace won’t find its way into the rear tire. Needless to say, that would be catastrophic for the rider, so it’s a nice touch that we don’t often see even in other premium electric kick scooters.
It comes in a variety of colors: black, white, blue, green, and orange. However, the blue, green, and orange models are significantly more expensive (several hundred U.S. dollars) so that is certainly something to consider when purchasing. How much is a colorful motorized electric stand up scooter worth to you? From a performance perspective, the sweet spot is going to be with the black or white models, which are more favorably priced.
Speaking of performance, the Inokim Quick-2 is certain to deliver on this front. The top speed is configurable and can be either 10.5 mph or 15.5 mph, which is on the lower end of scooters we have reviewed. All is not lost, however.
Where this scooter really shines is in its range. The unit we are reviewing comes with an 18 Ah (amp-hour) battery that provides a maximum range of 25-31 miles!! This is truly staggering and among the highest we have seen for any scooter on the market. The 9 Ah unit has about half the range, at around 13-15 miles which is still quite impressive. Either way, this scooter has enough range to substitute your automobile as a daily driver, and have juice left to spare at the end of the day.
The flip side of having such a large battery capacity is that charging time is significant. For the 18 Ah unit we are reviewing, the charge time can come in at around 8 hours for a fully depleted battery. While this could be considered a nuisance, keep in mind that with a class leading range of about 30 miles, charging this unit is not something you are going to have to do often.
A host of other premium features really justify the price tag for this unit. It comes factory equipped with an LCD display that indicates the speed, battery level and an automatic backlight for low light conditions.
Also, the Inokim Quick-2 stands out as a standing electric scooter due to the presence of cruise control. Yes, you read that correctly. This electric kick scooter comes equipped with a feature normally reserved for automobiles. This feature is incredibly helpful for maximizing range, as it will counteract your urge to lay on the throttle and max out the speed.
As far as safety is concerned, the manufacturer has spared no expense. It comes equipped with front V-brakes and rear disc brakes. Placing brakes on both tires is a huge plus, and a departure from some of its rivals. More typical is the rear brake, but it is not often to see brakes on both wheels. Inokim has really gone the extra mile to ensure the safety of their riders with the Quick-2 foldable electric scooter.
In addition to all the features that make this a great standing scooter for riding, there are features that make it easy to transport. It is light weight at around 32 pounds, so it can be carried in a trolley bag (sold separately, unfortunately) without having to train in the gym for 3 days a week for years on end. It also comes with an integral carry handle for lifting, so that loading it into a vehicle or stowing it away is an easy affair.
- Inokim Quick-2: Is the brainchild of the award winning designer Nimrod Riccardo Sapir. Quick-2 is the newest model in 2015 with even more innovative features designed to offer easier overall improved user experience.
- Easy to ride. 5 Seconds to fold and unfold. Wide deck for comfortable foot position while riding. Aluminum 6061 T6 Alloy, durability, and light weight. Outstanding and iconic design. Low noise. East maintenance. Fits into a trolley bag. Front and rear brake allow confident riding and safety.
Finally, we come to build quality. For the amount of money you are spending, you would expect nothing short of the most durable materials. The Quick-2 certainly does not disappoint on this front. It is constructed of aluminum alloy, which gives it its light weight and is certain to withstand the abuses a daily commuter will encounter.
The only con we could find in regards to this unit is the origin of the customer service. The service is located in China, so it could be hit or miss depending on your location. One Amazon customer review indicates difficulty in getting support, so that is something to keep in mind when shelling out so much money.

Recapping the Competition – the EcoReco M5 Motorized Stand Up Scooter
As we stated earlier, this is a clash between the Inokim Quick-2 and the EcoReco M5, our previous king of standing electric scooters and the best electric scooter for adults. To refresh your memory, let’s recap the features of that outstanding unit.
The EcoReco M5 really stands out for its environmental statement. The company packages the scooter in mostly recycled materials. Better yet, they will plant a tree when you register the warranty. This really differentiates the company from the competition, and suggests they are playing the long game.
All of this concern for the environment doesn’t come at the expense of power or fun, however. The EcoReco M5 can hit a maximum speed of 20 mph, which is significantly faster than the Inokim Quick-2. In addition, they quote a maximum range of 20 miles, which is measurably smaller than the Quick-2. This difference is owed to the smaller battery on the EcoReco M5. Its battery comes in at 8 Ah compared to the 18 Ah of the Quick-2.
This point may very well be academic. It will ultimately depend on how far you have to commute on a daily basis.
On the flip side, having a smaller battery means a significantly shorter charge time. The EcoReco M5 is ready to roll after just 5 hours of charging, which means you can ride it the full 10-20 miles to work and then charge it up by lunch, should you need to work a half day.
The build quality on the EcoReco M5 is also world class. The battery life is rated at 2000 charge cycles, which can take up to 10 years to reach. This significantly lowers the lifetime cost of ownership, which is something to consider. We were not able to find the matching numbers for the Inokim Quick-2, so it’s safe to assume that the EcoReco M5 has the edge in this respect.
The M5 also comes with an LCD display indicating speed, battery life, distance traveled, etc. It also comes with a backlight for night viewing.
As for safety features, the EcoReco has a running start requirement so that you can’t just lay on the throttle at a standstill, and launch yourself over the handle bars. In addition, they employ a rear brake instead of both a front and rear.
In addition, the M5 comes with solid tires so you don’t have to worry about inflating them or getting a flat while you’re out riding around. In our opinion, this is a definite plus over the pneumatic tires on the Inokim Quick-2 even though on rougher terrain the Inokim tires are much more comfortable. But if you want a comfortable ride for off-road riding you should check out our electric scooter with seat. Those have big pneumatic tires and are built for rougher terrain.
- Energy efficiency - 2,000 MPGe/ 500 miles on $1
- Agile & comfortable - Top speed 20 MPH
- Sturdy and stylish - 6061-T6 aircraft Aluminum
- Rangy & efficient - up to 20 miles per charge
- Long battery cycle life - 2000+ charge cycles
Also, the front and rear suspension makes for a smooth ride on less than perfectly smooth city streets or sidewalks. This is a feature missing from the Inokim, and it is something you would most likely miss over the long term.
We have two fantastic standing electric scooters for adults, but there can be only one champion. On a feature for feature basis, these two stand up scooters are comparable, however a few factors make one stand out.
Feature for Feature: Here we think the EcoReco M5 still has the edge. The front and rear shocks, higher top speed, and solid tires make this scooter the winner in the feature category. While the Inokim Quick-2 has a higher range for the 18 Ah version, this point is probably moot for most commuters.
Company vs Company: Again, the EcoReco M5 is going to have the edge here. Their commitment to the environment allows the buyer to accomplish more goals for the same amount of money. You remove a car from the road as well as get a tree planted, without any effort on your part other than buying the scooter. This is a win-win proposition for all involved.
In addition, we couldn’t find any complaints about customer service with EcoReco, so we can rest easy knowing we have recommended a reputable company to our readers.
There you have it, folks. The EcoReco M5 reigns supreme as the best foldable adult electric scooter.
